When I was a kid I pretended to be a radio personality. When I found out that DJs did not make a lot of money I decided to pursue journalism!

Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists

2019 - 1st Place for Digital Programming

In 2019, Odd Ball earned the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists' first-place award for Digital Programming. The project was a collaborative effort by host and producer Lindsey Kilbride, Creative Director Bonnie Zerr, and Director of Digital Media Ray Hollister. Since its launch, the podcast has garnered significant attention, with over 750,000 downloads worldwide. Odd Ball is a serialized nonfiction podcast from WJCT Public Media that delves into the 1974 mystery of the "Betz sphere" — a strange metal ball discovered by the Betz family on Fort George Island near Jacksonville, Florida. Hosted by Lindsey Kilbride, the show explores the bizarre events that followed the sphere's discovery, including claims of unexplained vibrations and movements, attracting attention from the Navy and UFO researchers. The podcast combines investigative journalism with compelling storytelling to unravel the enigma surrounding the sphere and its impact on the Betz family.
