## **In Their Own Words: Gambling.com Group’s Favorite Muck Rack Features**

### **Media Research**

As much as our brand sites like [bookies.com](https://bookies.com/sports-betting-sites) and [Great Lakes Stakes](https://www.greatlakesstakes.com/) are resources for consumers looking to play online, our communications team strive to be a resource to media and influencers who are covering the online gambling industry and helping tell interesting and important stories.

Muck Rack helps us to find journalists we otherwise wouldn’t know about. For example, TV and radio are two areas we have been testing new strategies, and we have been seeing great promise, largely in part to the research we’ve been able to do in Muck Rack.

### **Muck Rack Alerts**

Staying in the know is very important to us. We want to understand who is talking about our brand and what they’re saying. Muck Rack Alerts allow us to stay on top of media coverage, while also tracking social coverage of our brand in the media.

With that information, we’re able to better tailor our content creation and come up with new ideas for potential outreach. If we see a reporter sharing our odds in their outlet, we try to brainstorm new ways to offer them more content they might use. It gives us an idea of what we want to focus on moving forward.

Muck Rack Alerts also help us to track specific coverage for a list of key reporters we like to follow. We can stay on top of any piece of content they publish without having to bookmark individual websites or news outlets. It’s much more streamlined.

### **Coverage Reports**

Because we are a data-driven communications team, Reports are one of our most used Muck Rack features. Not only are they a great tool for fundamental coverage tracking like raw volume, but they also allow us to dig into more substantial metrics like shares, reach and domain authority.

Having a comprehensive understanding of the data shines a light on the power of media coverage and conversation about our brand.

### **Who Shared My Link**

As a media organization ourselves, with a newsroom full of people generating content and stories for us, the Who Shared My Link (WSML) feature is a great way for us to get insights into how a story or piece of our editorial content is performing.

Here’s an example: A journalist recently published a Q&A with a Michigan legislator advocating for online gambling. We can very easily throw the article into WSML and see if any Michigan-based journalists tweeted or shared it.

### **Team Collaboration**

In an era of Dropbox, Google Docs, Slack attachments, email attachments, Muck Rack serves as a centralized resource for our team, where we can work together to research influencers, draft up pitches and track brand mentions, in a collaborative environment. I really view Muck Rack as our centralized communications resource.

It’s the #1 thing everyone on our team is using on a daily basis in a collaborative form, whether we’re researching journalists or drafting a pitch. If my teammate starts something over in the UK, they can hand it over to a US teammate that can jump right in and complete the next step in the process.

Muck Rack is one of the only tools we use that allows us to do that.

## **Fast Questions with Derek Brookmeyer**

### **1. How would you describe your team’s new workflow on Muck Rack in three words?**

Smarter, focused, streamlined

### **2. What would your job be like if you didn’t have Muck Rack?**

“Cumbersome” is the simplest word I can use to describe it. It would require many more hours devoted to tracking and updating media lists in spreadsheets. Without the ability to use Muck Rack’s journalist search engine, we’d go back to using Google, and it would just be a very disjointed process.

### **3. If you had to explain how your team works on Muck Rack to someone in a tweet, what would you say?**

With @muckrack, we’ve been able to help the media tell important stories to consumers.

### **4. What would you tell other companies considering using Muck Rack?**

If you want to maximize your outreach and find the most meaningful targets, Muck Rack is an essential tool to be a more effective communications practitioner.

> One thing that really sets Muck Rack apart from other tools is the full-service experience. I remember during the demo, I could easily envision how we would use the tool going forward. It was intuitive from the onset and very simple to use.
