Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

ABA Press (Student Lawyer magazine)

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, but only an electric.

How is social media changing news?

It is the only place to find news.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To report news honestly and thoroughly, doing your best to be balanced.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I am not really working as a journalist any more. So I guess the answer would be, with a dump truck full of money.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Nothing special. I have a late-model iPhone and a million computers.

Who do you wish followed you?

Pretty sure everyone already follows me.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was the editor. It was a terrible paper.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Be very, very physically attractive.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Before 1990.

What's your favorite drink?

I drink a lot of Coca-Cola. Do you mean alcoholic drink, though?

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

I am always at a computer.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I don't really read any periodicals regularly any more.
