What was your first job as a journalist?

Aside internships in school, I was a fill-in reporter in Olympia, WA for the Northwest News Network. I am ever thankful for that break!

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Different things, to different people. I see a journalist as an über-citizen, deeply engaged in wanting to make society better with info.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

With personalized engagement. Please realize a radio report needs characters, scenes, and sounds, and not just figures and talking heads.
