it's happening next thursday. it's thanksgiving, but before the big meal. it's a great time to bring people together for the music city turkey trot. it's happening downtown. it's presented by run nash and it always has a beneficiary. nurture the next. we've got owner and operator mullen mccormick with us, along with melanie scott from nurture the next. good to have you guys both here. thank you for having us. first of all, let's talk about your organization okay. nurture energy. yes, please. okay. nurture the next. what do you guys do. >> so we're working in homes of families who are living in vulnerable situations. so we start working with a family when the mother is pregnant and we walk alongside them on their parenting journey for up to five years. so we are making sure that they have everything that they need to keep their baby safe. but we also go in with our curriculum that makes sure that they understand best ways to parent. and unfortunately, a lot of the families that we're serving are living in poverty, and a lot of them didn't have the best childhoods themselves. so they luckily invite us into their homes so that we can make sure that their baby gets off to a great start. >> what a great organization it is the time of giving, and so we can do the turkey trot and also help give back. give us the details of the turkey trot. it's always a fun event. >> it is. it's a great way to start off the thanksgiving morning by giving back. also putting in some miles before you have your big thanksgiving meal. it's been a tradition here in downtown nashville for 14 years, and it's a great way to see the city and start off the day how far we always want to know. the good thing is there's two distances. there's a five k, which is 3.2 miles, and there is a one mile. so you can get out there and just walk one mile if that's what you're feeling. >> you know what? and getting up and getting out, we're getting that crisp fall air. also i love the look by all the participants. you know they're going in big. also, you got a little doggie dash. >> we do. yeah. we want to make it a whole family affair. so your dog can register. they get a doggie bandana, a bib number, and they also get their own medal so they can feel a part of the race experience. >> oh, i love the pie costumes. as well. okay. costumes encouraged. obviously. i don't know why that didn't hit me until now. the metal is really beautiful. isn't it nice? >> yeah. it's always something to wear around your neck to show your accolades on on thanksgiving day. that's right. you're running for the medal. >> you've earned that pumpkin pie i love that, okay, music city turkey trot happening next thursday morning of thanksgiving. it's happening at nissan stadium. is this an obstacle course? >> luckily, we found roads that are open for you to use. >> you did. it's going to be great. get your tickets at run dash .com to find out about nurture the next. go to nurture the next.org. i'm sure this is just one of many fundraising opportunities that we have to help support your cause. >> absolutely. there's lots and lots of ways to get involved with us. right now, we're doing an adoptive family program so you can visit our website if that's what you and your family would like to do for the holidays. >> thanks for all you do. when
