escondido there. so the 15 southbound just a little bit of slow moving traffic for you. roll over to you. >> heather, thank you. this which foot bro and returns this month for the 22nd 20nd year. joining us now with all the details, band member mister chad butler in the house. chad, good morning. good morning. it was weird. i said 22 years of it. that's one or 2 years. that's wild idea where the time goes. we're talking about already june 30, 22 years. amazing. i can't believe it's awesome. we're so grateful. you know, the bro and beach festival was born out of gratitude for this community for san diego. for the all the support we received growing up here. >> you know, musican surfing kept us out of a lot of trouble. and so we're trying to give back to the next generation. i want to talk a little bit about how this has grown from the first one. the idea for the first one where it came from. >> and then when you see last year's event, it's like a straight-a. it's like a brazilian people that look at what you guys have created in 22 years. what was the first one like if you remember it and where did the idea for that comfort? yeah, it started off as as a way to, you know, raise some money and awareness for local organizations helping kids and it started off with just dozens of people on the beach at moonlight and over the years has grown to thousands and thousands of people. you know, i think it's just this beautiful community group hug to come together and celebrate organizations that are helping kids right here in our hometown. can you give me more information on that in terms of who it benefits? because i know you guys kind of change it up over the years and some of yeah. tell me about these groups and what they do to help the community. yeah. the common thread is helping youth whether its through meeting physical needs like with feeding san diego, helping hungry kids or bringing music back in the public schools with save the music and put a music program in rady children's hospital. you know it. all of it is is just investing in the future of these kids. and and really just elevating their stories. have you guys ever chatted with these groups and said, you know what, this this program really has helped us and without the support, you know, because so many you hear so much lately about budget talks with art and music and everything else. we know how important music is. absolutely. do you hear back from these gruden same and thanks for all you've done. and yet this going? yeah, it's incredible. you know, it's not just us. it's the whole community of san diego, all all the families and volunteers that come down at the beach and the sponsors. but we're just down in spring valley and at a middle school there helping see the music program come back to life after years and given them instruments and given the music, education is really rewarding for us. here's a here's a curveball for you. y is music important for kids to sit? this is i to this day with why don't i start playing guitar? i get up to like a couple days. i can coordinate. it's not too late. the and i'll talk to you about that after. >> y is music. so important for kids and everything else, obviously. yeah. but for me, it's self expression. you know, it's a way to express things. you can't find words for it. and i think for for kids, it's especially important. you know, if you're developing, it's it's so good for your brain and your emotional connection. >> yeah, our music surfing. all of it was such a benefit to us and we want to give that back to them. it's a great and yet the expression, it's just a creativity. it's a whole bunch of stuff. well, it is. so you're saying you're never too old to learn. tar. come on drums. there's still time in. could new language? yeah, it's hard. it's not as hard as you think you that you can pick it up. i love it on the air. guitar player. it all starts right here. drawn the steering wheel yeah, we all do it. tell me about the first thing that we got a bunch of events going on here. many of you all about that. we do. so the first one is happening when. yeah, sunday sunday, there's a pri at breakers restaurant in encinitas, benefiting the organizations. and then thursday night we have the benefit party in carlsbad and then saturday at moonlight beach. yeah. is the beach fest all day long? that's the big one. saturday, june 13 from 07:00am to 05:00pm. that literally is a full day with all of your how many people you get out there, 10, 2030, 10's of thousands of people. it's it's a free family-friendly event. you know, we've got vendors and food. are that the best part? yeah. surf contest in the morning. all day long. the music starts at 12. we've got incredible bands playing all day and it's all free. i love it. you guys coming up with new music soon as we are. yeah, we went a new album comes out june 26th. it's a couple of weeks away. yeah, it's a busy month. how long does it take for you guys to put something like this together? they're meeting the guys. go have lunch and say let's crank out an album and then how long is that process? >> yeah, you know, our our board meetings look a little different we do. we served together lot make music. and it's it's a gift meant to be a been this long and yet still play music. we believe it's a beautiful thing. all right. so can't wait for the new album and thank you for the 22nd annual switch. lebron. unbelievable. you guys
