you can see at a 51. >> think most new yorkers can agree on. it is a dislike for those green construction fences and sidewalk sheds used during projects to beautify some of those spots. a nonprofit organization has teamed up with developers to create murals relevant to the community. the rogers getting a look at a brand new mural, affordable housing building on coney island. i roger. >> we'll head more. yeah. right here on surf avenue across the street from the ballpark where the brooklyn cyclones play in the middle of all the action and that is what you see on the actual mural. you see all the cool stuff that coney island is famous for with every roller coasters are hot dogs or the mermaid parade and that's what it's all about. it's the work of an artist named vincent valentine. and joining us now, the developer of this building and 2 others right here on surf avenue. of course, joseph ferrara morning from bfc partners and said, you know, this neighborhood better than anybody because you grew up right across the ballpark way, graves and yeah, i did. pretty exciting that. >> we're creating a lot of residential buzz now with the projects that we have going on. but more so with the mural that one up as the kids are like walking to school. they walked by kind of mesmerized. we're getting a lot of selfie moments, too, which is really nice. historically evolve over a century. really? i mean, this neighborhood has been a tourist attraction like drawing people from all over the world. and now with the shift in the residential population happening here, it's cool to create some cultural local buzz, which is really nice to see. >> right you. and tommy were talking about love scaffolding is new yorkers might agree on one thing it is. nobody loves the scaffolding. and i think what the judge, john, from our bridges, they told me and that's what your partner with on this project. like 300 miles of 10500 miles away, even more and are at 500 miles of unsealed. an unsightly. >> sidewalk bridges, but they do serve a purpose, right? they protect. >> but tech pedestrian flow. nobody wants something falling off of the building, right? i like hurting someone but soda. you know, we teamed up with operators really, really cool. and their main mission is to beautify the space is they elementary school. kids got their input as what they would like to see on the fence. and they combined all of those ideas and vincent 1000 ballantine created this fabulous mural. yeah, that's what i love about. it is that. >> you didn't just bring some artists. it is a yellow paint. whatever you want to know you, you had workshops in the community with schools and said what is your net? what saw? you know, so you see like a guy at a delivery bike and you see the cyclone ucc goals. but you also see the subway, right? mermaids eyes out ice cream truck, every hole of theirs. >> my grandkids. love the polar bears. i don't know the fascination with the polar bear. why do i guess? because their children? but the polar bear plunge is a big event that happens here in coney island every year. so not that i'm not going to be doing it, but yeah, but i'm sure plenty of law. cool. i'm good with that. i will literally be cool. yes, a very cold. i mean, and then this icon, right? cyclone is like the corner traction on the mural. and that's going to be opening up soon. we're excited. we're excited about development to. so we've got this is the 3rd phase of three-phase development. 1250 affordable new homes for the brooklyn area and there's a lot of interest. i mean, i can't begin to tell you much need there is for affordable housing in new york. so it's a pretty, you know, humbly thing for us to be able to provide some new yorkers as well. >> add one quick question. i noticed on the on the stadium, the high water mark from sandy and i had and i was just curious, but when you build these right here on surf avenue was shells throw from the beach. you have to think about that ball. resiliency is very important. and after superstorm sandy, all of the elevations, the patients got raised to a minimum of 12 feet. so all of our mechanical equipment is located on the rooftops of all the bees buildings. it's really employee also flood gates to get a ploy. god forbid we have another superstorm sandy event here. so that to protect the residents and also had the way to evacuate them in case of an emergency like that. so that's a pretty important of like the fabric of construction. now in new york city. >> joe, for our great to see you. thanks a lot. bfc partners are bridge vincent valentine. paso, you got you got murals. you got resiliency. you got affordable housing and coney island. you go. what a great way to start
