1 INTRODUCTION Climate and land-use change are concomitantly impacting the health of riverine ecosystems around the world (Pan et al., 2020; Scheurer et al., 2009; Whitehead et al., 2013). Local land-use decisions can protect riverine health by, for example, reducing erosion and nutrient runoff, and protecting the integrity of riparian vegetation (Delpla et al., 2009; Murdoch et al., 2000; Whitehead et al., 2009).
