Degradable, Ultraviolet‐Crosslinked Pressure‐Sensitive Adhesives Made from Thioester‐Functional Acrylate Copolymers

Graphical Abstract The pressure-sensitive adhesives in commercial labels and sticky tape contain irreversibly crosslinked, insoluble, networks that hamper the recycling of cardboard and glass. This work establishes that degradable poly(n-butyl acrylate) networks featuring backbone thioesters have optimal adhesive properties and can be degraded on demand into fully soluble products. Abstract Pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are made from soft, irreversibly lightly crosslinked polymers.
