we're so glad you're joining us this morning. later this month, you have the chance to lace up your running shoes to help a child in need. it's all thanks to the lifeline children's services. run for one. event organizer alex smith is here with details. alex, thanks so much for coming in. >> thank you so much for having me. >> absolutely. so for those who are unfamiliar, what exactly does lifeline children's services do? >> we do a whole handful of things. we focus on adoption, foster care, crisis, pregnancy counseling, and global orphan care ministry. >> so really supporting families. >> supporting families, giving them all that they need, all the love and support. >> absolutely. we know that foster care, adoption, those are definitely journeys and needed journeys that that families embark on. and so having the support that they need is incredibly important. the community can support those efforts as well. run for one. tell me about this. >> so we are having our annual run for one happening august 29th at veterans park in hoover on saturday morning, and it is a five k in a fun run. but this year we are adding a giant family festival, so it's going to be so much fun. >> sounds like it. so what can we expect at the festival event? >> yes. so the festival we're going to have a touch a truck experience. we're going to have tractors, cranes, fire trucks, all sorts of things. we're going to have bounce houses, carnival games. it's going to be so much fun. >> oh my goodness. you said touch a truck and i'm in. i have two little boys who love all that kind of thing. so something for the community can really come out. >> absolutely. we want to make it accessible for everybody. so it is a free admission and we just want everybody to come out. just enjoy the morning with their family, enjoy the morning with us. we're going to have a cornhole tournament. just, just a fun morning. >> absolutely. and we know so many people. either you're an athlete and you want to get in that practice with a five k, or you want to just get out and get some exercise. you don't have to be a professional athlete to participate. >> absolutely not. you can be or you can just be a walker. whatever stage you're at. our five k begins at 8 a.m. and we have a kids fun run beginning at 845, and then the festival will be open till noon. >> fantastic. and this all goes to support the mission that you all have. so yes, all anything raised during this event is really going back to families in our area. >> yes. so specifically for this event, all the proceeds go to our global orphan care ministry. and through that ministry, we serve children. we provide love, support all the things as they learn life skills, enroll in school and here the hope of the gospel all over. >> there you go. and so you know that you're impacting children across the country. you're going to come support this event. yes. alex, where can we go for more information to learn more about this organization? but also the run for one event. >> yes. you can head over to our website at lifeline child.org and you'll find all the information there. >> wonderful. anything else you want to say about run for one, the family festival, all this coming up. we have the information on the screen right there coming up on august 29th. anything else you want to say about this event? >> we just hope to see everybody there. it's open to everybody in the community, whether you're running or just coming for the festival. we're
