Rays score 3 in 9th inning to rally for 4-3 win over Rangers
Taylor Walls hit a two-run single to second baseman Marcus Semien in the ninth inning and the Tampa Bay Rays rallied to beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 on Thursday night. Junior Caminero, who homered off Jack Leiter in the second inning, had an RBI single against Robert Garcia (1-3) to pull the Rays to 3-2 earlier in the ninth. After Jake Mangum flied out for the second out, Christopher Morel singled to load the bases.
Valdez pushes personal winning streak to 5 as Astros top Pirates 8-2 after long delay
Framber Valdez pitched seven strong innings, Isaac Paredes homered twice, and the Houston Astros beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-2 after a lengthy rain delay on Thursday night. Valdez (6-4) won his fifth straight decision by limiting the Pirates to two runs on five hits with three walks and a season-high 11 strikeouts after waiting out the delay that pushed the start of the game back 3 hours and 22 minutes. The left-hander is now 5-0 with a 1.72 ERA in his last six starts.

The Red Raiders are in the Women's College World Series for the first time in program history. Powered by a two game sweep in Tallahassee, the Red Raiders now have a new set of opponents. On their side of the bracket is UCLA, Oregon, and their first opponent, Ole Miss. With that in mind let's meet some of the top players from the three programs Tech will likely see. Ole Miss Rebels (42-19, 11-13) The Rebels went through conference foe Arkansas to punch their ticket.

Monday Spotlight: Johncarlos Miller II
The tight end position will be one to watch for multiple reasons. First, how does new offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich envision using the assets he has. Second, how big of an impact individually can the leaders in the clubhouse have this season. The expected two as the leaders in said clubhouse would be Johncarlos Miller II and transfer Terrance Carter Jr. The Red Raiders said goodbye to long time tight end Mason Tharpe, and an impact transfer himself Jalin Conyers.

Jose Altuve homered twice and drove in a season-high four runs and Jeremy Peña tripled for his 500th career hit to help the Houston Astros to a 9-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night. It was tied with two outs in the fourth when Jake Meyers singled off George Kirby (0-1) before Cam Smith walked. Mauricio Dubón’s single on a grounder to right field scored Meyers to put Houston on top 3-2.
Texas Tech Advances To World Series After 2-1 Win at Florida St.
The Texas Tech Softball Team is advancing to the Women’s College World Series for the first time in program history following the Red Raiders 2-1 win over Florida State in game two of the Tallahassee Super Regional. The Red Raiders are the first team in the country to punch its ticket to Oklahoma City. Tech took care of the host team Seminoles without allowing a run until the seventh inning of the second game of the series.

The College Football playoff committee is no different. Each commissioner is looking out for themselves not wanting to give an inch. What is on the table, according to ESPN, is a straight seeding model this fall, rewarding the selection committee's top four teams with the top four seeds and a first-round bye.
