It was a Saturday afternoon in the main hall of Anime Expo 2025, and I was in a room at the FyRyu Games booth. While attendees were checking out the figurines for sale or hoping to win a prize at the crane machine, I was in a cramped room hidden away from the public. I was there for a special demo session for Varlet, with developer Hideaki Ito present to answer any questions I had.

Koei Tecmo has announced The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother, the first video game adaptation of the acclaimed series, set to launch in early 2027. The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother will launch on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC via Steam, and PlayStation 5. No firm release date has been set, but Koei Tecmo is targeting early 2027. The game is currently available to wishlist on Steam.

During Nintendo Direct of September 2026, Marvelous Inc. unveiled a new IP Eternal Anima, and confirmed it will launch in March 2027. Eternal Anima is a new JRPG launching March 7, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game brings together industry icons including director Katsuhisa Higuchi (Monster Hunter Stories 2), story concept writer Keisuke Makino (Persona 5), and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima (Final Fantasy VII).

Rainy Frog Co. has announced that the retro inspired stealth game, Spy Drops Gaiden, is set to launch for the PC in October 2026. Spy Drops Gaiden will launch for the PC, via Steam, on October 12th, 2026, and will sell for $4.99 USD. Those who want an idea of what to expect could check out the demo that is now available.

Sukeban Games has announced that their highly anticipated title, .45 PARABELLUM BLOODHOUND, will have a playable demo at the 2026 Tokyo Game Show. From September 17th to September 21st, gamers will have the chance to play .45 PARABELLUM BLOODHOUND for the first time. The demo will be available at the Sukeban Games booth in the Indie Area, section 09-E104. Developers will also be on hand to answer questions about the game.

ATLUS has announced that Daman Mills will join the cast of Persona 4 Revival as Kanji Tatsumi. Persona 4 Revival — Kanji Sizzle is an introduction to one of the characters who can join your party. Kanji Tatsumi has a reputation for being a notorious delinquent but in reality has a soft side that he tries to hide. His Arcana is the Emperor, and his Persona is Takeji Zaiten .

2000s first person shooters stand out among gamers as they were made during an era of creativity and innovation. Inspired by the likes of GoldenEye and Half-Life, developers aimed to create action packed but unique experiences. This was the era that saw the birth of titans like Halo, Call of Duty, and Battlefield while also giving us timeless classics like TimeSplitters, Black, F.E.A.R., The Operative: No One Lives Forever, and XIII (sorry for the flex, there are too many to name).

Pixelity Inc. has announced it will host its first public hands-on preview of Evangelion: Δ Cross Reflections in San Francisco. This hands-on preview will be hosted near Union Square in San Francisco on September 25th. The event will be open to the public but limited to 80 people. Those wanting to participate will have to sign up for a lottery before September 8th. Location of the event will only be revealed to participants of the preview.

RGG Studio revealed that Stranger Than Heaven has surpassed 1 million wishlists, making it one of their most wishlisted title prior to launch. Unveiled via Twitter, Stranger Than Heaven has hit over 1 million wishlists across the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and the PC via Steam. The post thanked fans for making this milestone possible as the game is four months away from launch.
