Jenny Hogan installed a rotary phone at Elva Rouse Park near Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. People walking by can pick up the receiver and share stories or whatever's on their mind. She calls it "Leave a Message After the Tone." The phone records audio. Hogan picks certain voicemails and posts them on Stories of Humanity social media pages. Sometimes she puts a sign next to the phone with a question or theme. Hogan launched the Stories of Humanity Instagram page almost a year ago.
Seminole High School Receives $57M Renovation With New Dining Hall and Safety Systems
Seminole High School has started a $57 million upgrade. The project brings a new dining hall, electrical systems, and security cameras across the grounds. Work kicked off in March 2025 and should wrap up by July 2027. The dated cafeteria? Gone. In its place stands an 11,146-square-foot dining hall with a kitchen, storage rooms, and a food pantry. Students started eating there when school opened this month.

ADHD-Friendly Cinema Series Launches in St. Petersburg Merging Crafts and Movies
Creative Pinellas, Green Light Cinema, and The Common Thread Yarn Shop & Café have launched Craft Club Cinema. This monthly series allows attendees to work on crafts while watching movies. The series begins Sunday, August 30, at 2 p.m. The opening show will be 50 First Dates at the 80-seat theater located at 221 2nd Ave. North. Screenings run with lower volume and brighter lights than typical showings.
