The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is planning to offer mobile driver’s licenses to Hoosiers. A mobile driver’s license, or MDL, is a digital version of a physically issued license. The digital ID would be available in an app or the wallet of someone’s phone.

Construction is getting underway on a new condominium development near the Notre Dame campus. The former Parisi’s Ristorante property will become the Parisi Condos, featuring 38 two-bedroom units. Developers say 14 units have already been spoken for. The remaining condos are priced from roughly 711-thousand to 965-thousand dollars. Plans include a rooftop deck, fitness center and putting green.

Elkhart Christian Academy to move forward with campus expansion Share0 (Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC) Elkhart Christian Academy is moving forward with a three-year, $4 million plan to expand its campus, and construction is now underway on the first phase. The school kicked off the construction phase of its Legacy Campaign after partnering with a design firm to develop a master plan for its 62-acre property. Phase one includes a second entrance, a new main office and a learning resource center.

The St. Joseph County Department of Health is advising residents to take mosquito precautions after another mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile virus. The latest detection was in western Olive Township near New Carlisle. It is the fourth positive mosquito pool found in the county this season, following earlier detections in Clay, Portage and Penn townships.

Indiana is set to receive $120 million through the federal Rural Health Transformation Program to expand health care access and strengthen the health care workforce in rural communities across the state.

Federal immigration officers working in Lawrence were assisted Wednesday by Lawrence Police after a man with felony warrants barricaded himself inside a business. Lawrence Deputy Chief Travis Kline says ICE agents were conducting an operation when the man ran from them and barricaded himself inside the business. “He barricaded himself inside one of our Lawrence businesses,” Kline said.

The new equipment allows the college to set up additional exam tables and expand Scan Lab availability in partnership with John Patrick University.

The BMV says branches will be closed Saturday, Sept. 5, through Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. Branches will reopen and resume their regular business hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has filed multiple lawsuits against companies accused of taking advantage of homeowners during the state’s storm response. The lawsuits target TimberCut Tree Experts, LLC; Shade Tree Service Co.; Garrison McKinney Tree and Bridge; Storm Support Emergency Tree Removal, LLC; and David Foster.

Officers in Elkhart are investigating after the discovery of a body. Police were called, Thursday afternoon, to the Norfolk Southern Railyard on the far west side of Elkhart. A woman at the railyard said the body was found in a gondola car loaded with scrap metal. Elkhart Police are trying to figure out what led to the person’s death.
