IPC Shadow Minister Nelson Kalangula was responding to Cabinet’s recent approval to establish the agency, whose mandate is to strengthen management of the country’s N$47.4 billion commercial public assets.

Hauaufiku made the remarks on Wednesday after several government flats in Windhoek’s Ausspannplatz were welded shut over alleged illegal occupations. Months earlier, Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi gave people illegally occupying government flats a deadline to vacate the properties.

PSEMAS provides medical cover to government employees and eligible beneficiaries. Haufiku says PSEMAS is failing its members and needs fundamental restructuring.

By: Jackson Kunatela A 25-year-old father has been arrested in connection with the death of his two-year-old daughter at Cowboy in Katima Mulilo. Zambezi police acting regional commander deputy commissioner Magdalena Garises said the incident happened on Wednesday after the girl was discovered in a house. Garises said the girl had been left in the care of the father following an argument between him and the child’s grandmother over alleged lack of support.

The line ministry says it can only enrol more people once new budget allocations are received. For now, 27 132 beneficiaries still receive the N$600 monthly payment. The government spent almost N$16.3 million on September payouts. The grant is means-tested.
