They also dive into new reports surrounding Google’s portion of the foldable market — and the risk Apple holds against it — before finishing up with YouTube’s new workaround for disabling Shorts.
Latest One UI 9 leak shows off ‘Tap to Share,’ adds Bixby widgets to home screen
Samsung is still working on One UI 9 ahead of a planned launch later this summer. With a fresh leaked build, we’re getting a better glimpse at two features coming to your phone with this update. Amazon will ditch Android on ‘all’ future Fire TV Sticks as latest model runs Vega OS
Amazon this week launched its newest Fire TV Stick and, along with it, its second device powered by Vega OS. And that appears to be the pattern going forward, as a report claims that all future Amazon Fire TV Stick devices will ditch Android. Vega OS made its formal debut on the Fire TV Stick Select last year, with the Android alternative largely disliked by many because it blocks the ability to sideload apps – it also lacks a lot of native apps, with a clunky solution for others.
Google brings individual hotel price tracking to Search for all your summer travel needs
Google is adding a new tool to Search that should allow users to save a little bit of cash on their upcoming summer vacations. Starting today, Google users can now track prices for individual hotels, similar to the company’s flight price tracking system that’s been in place for a while. The company’s been building up to this functionality for a while; last year, the company launched the ability to track hotel pricing via a city-wide aggregate.
Android 17 brings a bit of Pixel Watch whimsy to your notification shade
Google is porting over a tidbit from its Pixel Watch to the notification shade on Pixel phones with its Android 17 update, now live in the latest beta. On Pixel Watch, swiping away all of your notification leads to a message saying that “You’re all caught up!” The message includes a little trophy icon. It’s a fun little way to say you’ve finished notifications. Now, it’s coming to Pixel phones.

Meta raising prices on Quest headsets, even refurbished ones, next week
Meta has just announced that, like seemingly every other tech product under the sun, Meta Quest 3 series headsets are seeing price hikes across all models. Effective as of April 19, Meta Quest headsets will see a price hike of up to $100. The adjustments, Meta says, are due to the “global surge in the price of critical components – specifically memory chips.” In other words, the cost of RAM is rising, and pushing up the price of the headset.
