Why is the Longwood fire still on the VicEmergency map?
ON the VicEmergency map, the January firegrounds are still showing up even though it’s now June. Our newspaper was told back in April, “The Impact Areas map layer displayed on VicEmergency is informed by live data provided by the emergency service agencies. The areas affected by the January 2026 Victorian bushfires are currently shown as fire grounds on the VicEmergency map, as they have already been burnt through.

Terip Terip community gathers to recognise volunteer efforts
MURRINDINDI Shire Council hosted the first of their Thank You Volunteer events last Saturday night in Terip Terip, with a two-course meal catered by Grant Street Grocer, music by Solomon and Lacey, and the presentation of a community recognition plaque. The event was attended by numerous members of the Terip Terip community, as well as Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish, Murrindindi Shire Council CEO Livia Bonazzi and Councillors Damien Gallagher, Paul Hildebrand and Sue Carpenter.
