Oct. 11, 2026, 6:05 a.m. ET Six weeks are now in the rearview mirror for this year's college football season, and we are beginning to learn more and more about the Big Ten and which teams look like pretenders and those that have some work to do in order to even be considered pretenders. This past week saw several surprises that have reset the order and perception of things. We still feel pretty good about Ohio State and Indiana, but we might want to start taking note of the UCLA Bruins.

Oct. 10, 2026, 10:07 p.m. ET Maryland came into the game against Ohio State with hopes of seeing improvement and being able to compete with one of the best teams in the country. After a 45-16 loss, it's not exactly what head coach Mike Locksley envisioned. Ohio State thoroughly dominated the game using a stifling defense, an improved running game, and a big-play passing game to continue its journey towards the lofty goals it set before the season.

Oct. 10, 2026, 9:35 p.m. ET Ohio State remains on track for some pretty big things after a dominating win over Maryland on Saturday, but now it gets real. The Buckeyes improved their overall record to 5-1 and their Big Ten mark to 3-0 after a 45-16 victory on homecoming in front of a sellout crowd inside the 'Shoe.

Updated Oct. 10, 2026, 9:06 p.m. ET Ohio State rolled past Maryland on Saturday afternoon 45-16, thanks to an incredible defensive performance. The Buckeye defense held the Terrapins to only 146 total yards and 10 points against the Maryland offense. The game opened with both teams trading punts, but an explosive 31-yard punt return from Buckeye's Phillip Bell set Ohio State up in great field position. The Buckeyes capitalized when Jeremiah Smith found the end zone for the first score of the game.

Oct. 10, 2026, 8:35 p.m. ET There was no letdown on Saturday for Ohio State. After a dominating win against Iowa last week, the Buckeyes returned home for a homecoming affair against a struggling Maryland team and were impressive again. Jeremiah Smith had two more jaw-dropping touchdowns, the defense played well, and the running game got cranked up behind Bo Jackson en route to a 45-16 victory.

Oct. 10, 2026, 6:53 p.m. ET Former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will soon join a new NFL team, as the Arizona Cardinals reportedly finalize the trade of the former Buckeye star. The 2024 fourth overall pick established himself as one of the top offensive weapons in college football during his time in Columbus. Harrison racked up over 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns in consecutive years with the Buckeyes and earned 2023 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

Oct. 10, 2026, 5:50 p.m. ET Ohio State takes on Maryland today in Ohio Stadium, and who else but Jeremiah Smith to steal the show? Through a quarter and a half, Smith has 2 receptions for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. It was a slow start for the Buckeyes as they were forced to punt on their first drive, but they answered the call on the next opportunity. Quarterback Julian Sayin found his favorite target and star receiver, Jeremiah Smith, for a 33-yard touchdown.

Oct. 10, 2026, 2:48 p.m. ET After dismantling Iowa on the road last week, Ohio State comes back home to host a struggling Maryland squad for the Buckeyes' homecoming game. The oddsmakers don't think the Terps have much of a chance in this one, but we've seen that the games often take a life of their own, and Ohio State will have to earn it on the field of play.

Oct. 10, 2026, 8:17 a.m. ET It's homecoming week for Ohio State, and the football team has another conference game on tap. With thousands of alumni heading to Columbus to reunite with old friends and reminisce about days gone by, the Buckeyes will welcome Maryland to Ohio Stadium. The Athletic department has some surprises in store for fans, as it was revealed earlier that the iconic "Block O" at midfield will have a little added touch that will give the field a nostalgic feel.
