Aug. 24, 2026, 5:15 p.m. ET Another member of the Ohio State football team has lost his black stripe. Longsnapper Dalton Riggs has been officially welcomed to the Brotherhood. It's a position that largely goes under the radar until something goes wrong with a bad snap. With the Buckeyes' kicking woes in recent years, it is a position of utmost importance. Riggs comes to Columbus by way of the transfer portal.

Aug. 24, 2026, 3:43 p.m. ET The new 5-for-5 waiver for the class of 2022 has created a wave of uncertainty around college athletics, and a new precedent may have just been set for schools like Ohio State and others around the country looking to solidify their rosters as the season gets underway. On Sunday, it was announced that former Ole Miss tight end and a current member of the Cleveland Browns, De’Quan Wright, was going to be cut by the Browns to sign with LSU for the 2026 season.

Aug. 24, 2026, 10:34 a.m. ET The Ohio State Buckeyes now know which quarterback they will be facing off against in the Week 1 season opener. Ball State named Keldric Luster its starting quarterback for the Sept. 5 matchup against the top-ranked Buckeyes. Luster is a redshirt junior transfer who has previously played for SMU and Texas State. Luster won the job over Division II transfer Tyler Mizzell during the Cardinals' preseason competition.

Aug. 23, 2026, 10:29 p.m. ET The Ohio State basketball team hasn't even been on the court yet for the 2026-27 season, not even an exhibition, but it's never a bad idea to keep an eye on what the national media believes we'll see from the scarlet and gray this season. One of the things we like to stay in touch with is ESPN's bracketology and where Joe Lunardi forecasts the Buckeyes. And on that note, he just dropped his latest NCAA Tournament projections.

In the OSU program, the captains are voted on by the players, and depending on how the vote breaks, it determines not only the captains but also how many they will have that year. In this case, Ohio State will have seven captains for just the seventh time in the program's history. That seems like a lot, but all of the guys that were announced make sense.

Aug. 22, 2026, 6:10 p.m. ET In case you missed the news of the day, Ohio State announced its 'Block O' honoree on Saturday, and it is none other than senior wide receiver Brandon Inniss, who also just so happens to be one of seven captains named for the year. He is the seventh 'Block O' recipient and third wide receiver to receive the honor since the tradition was instituted in 2020, when the NCAA permitted college players to wear the jersey number 0.

Aug. 22, 2026, 6:03 p.m. ET With just two weeks from the start of the Ohio State football season, head coach Ryan Day has announced the captains for 2026. Captains are voted on directly by the players, so it makes the honor even more special to be recognized by your peers as someone they see as a leader both on and off the field. There will be seven captains this year. It is only the seventh time in school history that there have been seven captains.
