Culture Study
Newsletter (Digital)
Welcome to Culture Study!
Culture Study is for people who want to think more about the culture that surrounds them.
“Culture” can expand to include pretty much anything. Politics can be culture, celebrity can be culture, tourism and feminism and consumerism and work practices — all culture. Sometimes I’ll write things that take weeks to research and report. Sometimes I’ll do Q&As with my other favorite cultural thinkers. The beauty of a newsletter is that I can still write about things even if I can’t think of a headline that will perform well on social media and you can decide — instead of an algorithm — whether or not it’s interesting to you.
Over the years, the Culture Study community has worked hard to make the threads (and comments) into a vibrant space — one of the good places on the internet. We hope you’ll join us! Source

Friday Thread: What Do You Accidentally Know a Lot About?
Today’s Friday Thread prompt comes from Culture Study reader Jordan, who asks: What do you accidentally know a lot about? How did you come by your expertise? I feel like all of my answers are weird because I know a lot about a lot of niche areas because….I was writing a journalistic feature about that thing? That’s how I learned so much about Chip & Joan…

She’s working directly with specific families in need of aid. You can donate directly through Venmo (cathshoe) or Pa…
