PROBUS Club Report
At the recent Gilgandra PROBUS Club meeting, the members heard of a proposed excursion and a concert, inviting members to participate. As our intended guest speaker was unable to attend, PROBUS member Shirley Marks gave us the early history of the residence next to the court house which was built and owned by Mr Alf Wood. This prompted a discussion about other early residents. Linda Wykes recited a humorous poem about her old slippers which was presented at her 50th birthday.

DFYM LEGO® Club August is Family History Month and to celebrate, our Designs From Your Mind (DFYM) builders brought their family histories to life by literally putting their families into trees! There was a thorough search through all the LEGO® boxes for brown bricks to build the trees, with three levels of branches required. Our builders and their siblings were placed on the bottom branch, their parents on the middle layer, and their grandparents proudly perched at the top.

Railway Hotel to reopen
Community & Business After an interim closing period from earlier this year, owner of the establishment, Donna Sant, has returned to turn The Railway Hotel back into a thriving hub for the community. Donna has owned the pub for 15 years after taking it over from previous owners Mick and Annette Long in 2009. “Everybody’s glad to see me coming back,” Donna said. “I’ve had a steady stream of people dropping in telling me to hurry up already,” she said.
