Rays Open Homestand With Win Over Padres
The Tampa Bay Rays (80-54) defeated the San Diego Padres (72-63) 9-4 on Friday night at Tropicana Field to open their six-game homestand with a win. The Rays got one in the third before erupting with five in the sixth to take control of the game. They added single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh en route to a 9-4 win. Shane McClanahan (10-6, 3.19) got the win allowing four runs - three of them earned - on three hits while striking out four and walking two.
