NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) - At least 13 people, including two firefighters, were injured after a fire broke out at a Brooklyn building Tuesday night, FDNY officials said. The flames happened around 8:45 p.m. at a residential building located at 881 5th Ave. in Sunset Park. Over 105 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene and the fire was placed under control around 9:30 p.m. About 14 people, including two children, were displaced due to the fire, the Red Cross said.

MILFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Queens man has been charged with attempted murder after authorities said he tried to drown two young children at a Connecticut beach over the weekend. Romney Desronvil, 41, was arraigned Monday in Milford Superior Court, where a judge set bail at $2 million and ordered him to return to court on July 1. He was detained on charges of attempted murder, reckless endangerment and risk of injury to children, a court clerk said.

The New York City Police Department has employed SoundThinking Inc.'s ShotSpotter system, which uses microphones and audio software in an attempt to detect the sound of gunshots in neighborhoods, for nearly a decade.

AVOCA, N.Y. (AP/1010 WINS) - A 23-year-old woman wanted in the deaths of her three roommates in Virginia was taken into custody after a chase on an upstate New York highway, police said Friday. Police began searching for Alyssa Jane Venable after the bodies of her roommates, all in their 60s or 70s, were discovered Tuesday during a welfare check in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Police said she was wanted on three counts of second-degree murder and a firearms charge.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) - Two teen girls were arrested and charged in connection with last month's dognapping of a dachshund named Milkshake, whose owner said she was taunted with prank calls, police said Tuesday. The two suspects, both 16 years old, were charged with grand larceny and harassment. While arrests were made, it wasn't immediately clear if the 10-year-old dog had been returned to her owner.
