Vince Dass and Dean Whitecotton of Napa Golf Course at Kennedy Park won the 58th Northern California Golf Association Four-Ball Net Championship May 18-19 at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach. Ruby Lopez of Matias Martial Arts in Napa has officially become a member of the USA Boxing youth high-performance team, giving her the opportunity to represent herself, her club, her city, and her country at the highest level. In February, Lopez secured her place on the national team by attending a selection camp. She then made her international debut with Team USA, achieving a victory against Korea at the U19 Future Cup held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Police are cautioning Calistoga residents to watch for people playing a common game using toy guns, warning that even using imitation firearms could lead to citations or arrests. In an April 30 news release, Calistoga Police detailed the activity known as Senior Assassins, which is played by some high schoolers in the months before graduation. Participants use toy guns such as water pistols and Nerf Blasters — devices firing foam darts and balls — to track down and “eliminate” opponents.

Another Napa County lodging property is facing foreclosure. Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa, located at 1880 Lincoln Ave. in Calistoga, has defaulted on a $40 million loan, according to county records. The property was purchased by Calistoga Hotel Group LP, an entity of Eagle Point Hotel Partners, in 2015. A notice of default, the first step in the foreclosure process, was filed March 23 in the Napa County Recorder's Office. The total amount owed is $40,983,711.
