Markos Georghiades, Justin Thaler, Andrew Tretyakov, and Michael Zhu 09.09.26 Today we are releasing Lattice Jolt, a new version of our open source zkVM (zero knowledge virtual machine). The architecture is the same one that already made Jolt the fastest and simplest zkVM available. What changes with this new version is the cryptography underneath it, which now rests on lattices instead of elliptic curves. This one change does three things at once: It makes Jolt post-quantum.
Investing in OpenReserve: the bank that never closes
The business day used to matter. Businesses were open Monday through Friday, and occasionally on weekends. You went to work, often literally from 9 to 5, and then left for the rest of your day. Business was static. It started; it stopped. The internet changed that. Amazon transformed your local bookstore from a physical shop with business hours to an always-open global storefront for every imaginable product.
When throughput is not enough: What financial markets need from blockchains
Finance is one of the most obvious use cases for blockchains. It’s also one of the most demanding. A benefit of blockchains, often referenced in the context of financial use cases, is that they bring assets, ownership records, and execution rules into a shared system that no single counterparty controls. Step 1: Start with the right mindset Always establish what “normal” looks like and mentally tag any behaviors that aren’t. Distance is safety. Choose distance over confrontation: if someone’s acting off, move away or change your setting. Trust your instincts when something doesn’t feel right.
A guide to perpetual futures: How they work and why they're growing so quickly
Perpetual futures (“perps”) are futures contracts that never expire. Once a crypto-native hack, they took off onchain in 2025. They’ve become one of crypto’s biggest markets, covering traditional assets and trillions of dollars in trading volume. Last year, the top centralized exchanges cleared $86.2T in perp volume (+47% YoY), while onchain perpetuals grew even faster: Leading decentralized exchanges reached $6.7T (+346% YoY).
'Open Agentic Commerce' and the end of ads
Agentic commerce is here. ACP and UCP promise checkout in ChatGPT and Gemini. Soon, hundreds of millions of consumers around the globe will find better products, merchants will have improved conversion rates, and platforms will be able to take 5-10%. But ChatGPT checkout is an incremental improvement. It will not reshape society as the internet did in the early 2000s. Open Agentic Commerce will. We must go back to the ‘90s to understand why.
The Whatsapp moment for money is here
The internet made information global. Crypto is having a similar impact on money. While recent headlines might fixate on prices of Bitcoin, a deeper and longer-lasting shift is underway in digital payments. This is the year that stablecoins, or cryptocurrencies pegged to assets like the dollar, are becoming part of the mainstream for online and international payments. Call it money’s “WhatsApp moment”.
