One Field, One Future One of the things I value most about hospice and palliative medicine is our willingness to sit with difficult questions. We ask patients and families to talk about what matters most, acknowledge uncertainty, and consider when a familiar plan may no longer meet their needs.

In recognition of Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month, the Latino Professionals, Patients, and Families in Hospice and Palliative Care Forum of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) invites clinicians, educators, researchers, trainees, and healthcare leaders to join a special international panel discussion exploring the evolving landscape of palliative care across Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States.

A Strong Academy Starts with Its Members As healthcare continues to evolve, so does the work of AAHPM.

AAHPM is seeking volunteers to serve in editorial leadership roles with two premier member publications: PC-FACS and AAHPM Quarterly. Whether your passion is analyzing emerging research or developing engaging content for colleagues across the field, these volunteer opportunities offer a meaningful way to contribute your expertise and elevate the specialty. Term lengths for these positions span 3 years.

HAPC Voices is designed to transform what participants know, feel, and do by immersing them in authentic narratives that reflect the diverse realities of hospice and palliative care. By sharing lived experiences, the program fosters insight, strengthens resilience, and deepens how clinicians, patients, families, and caregivers connect with one another.

AAHPM and HMDCB are pleased to present the third annual Hospice Super Forum. This continuing medical education activity is designed to improve hospice clinicians’ ability to apply key regulatory and clinical principles to optimize patient care. This event will explore three timely and highly relevant topics shaping hospice practice today.

From time to time, we feature guest contributors to share insights, experiences, and perspectives from across our community. These contributions help surface diverse viewpoints, spark new ideas, and strengthen peer-to-peer learning. This September marks two years since Hurricane Helene swept through Western North Carolina. When it struck in the fall of 2024, hospice and palliative care teams were forced into roles for which they had never trained. Snowstorms and brief power outages were familiar.

The AAHPM Next Gen Scholars for Equity in HPM program is shaping the future of hospice and palliative medicine. By supporting emerging clinicians from communities underrepresented in HPM, the program helps advance equitable, patient-centered care. Through mentorship, professional development, and a strong sense of community, scholars are gaining the tools and connections they need to grow as leaders in the field.
