WASHINGTON, Aug. 7—Associated Builders and Contractors today commended the U.S. Senate for confirming James Macy and David Prouty to serve on the National Labor Relations Board by a vote of 51-47, restoring the board's quorum and ensuring it can continue carrying out its important responsibilities on behalf of America's workers and employers.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 7—The construction industry added 22,000 jobs on net in July, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, industry employment has increased by 82,000 jobs, an increase of 1.0%. Nonresidential construction employment grew by 20,000 positions, with gains in all three subcategories. Nonresidential specialty trade added the most jobs, increasing by 15,400 positions.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 4—The construction industry recorded 305,000 job openings on the last day of June, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey. JOLTS defines a job opening as any unfilled position for which an employer is actively recruiting. Industry job openings increased by 14,000 last month and are up by 81,000 from the same time last year.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 3—National nonresidential construction spending rose 0.1% in June, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data published today by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $1.277 trillion. Spending was up on a monthly basis in 8 of 16 nonresidential subcategories. Both public and private nonresidential spending were up 0.1% in June.

WASHINGTON, July 31—The national June not seasonally adjusted construction unemployment rate was 4.7%, a 1.3% increase from June 2025, according to a state-by-state analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors. The analysis found that every state had a construction unemployment rate below 10% and all but three states (Connecticut, New Jersey and Rhode Island) had a rate below 7%.
