Hong Kong, 23 August 2026 – The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Robot Contest 2026 brought together 16 university teams from 15 countries and regions in Hong Kong for an exciting celebration of robotics, engineering, cultural heritage and international cooperation. Jointly organised by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), ABU Robocon returned to Hong Kong for the first time since 2012.

Hong Kong, 22 August 2026 – The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and the Information Services Department (ISD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation to strengthen collaboration and exchanges in media and communications.

RRI and Hyppe Strengthen Indonesia’s Digital Content Ecosystem Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) has partnered with Indonesian digital platform Hyppe to launch Transformasi Kreator Indonesia, a new initiative supporting the education, development and empowerment of digital content creators.

Professor Mehmet Zahid Sobacı President Director General, TRT, Turkiye Prof. Mehmet Zahid Sobacı graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration in 2001. He completed his master’s (2005) and doctorate (2009) education at Uludağ University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration. He became an associate professor in 2013 and a professor in 2020.

PSM Maldives Strengthens Digital Content Creation Skills Public Service Media’s Maldives Media Institute (MMI), in partnership with the President’s Office, has completed the second edition of its Master Class on Digital Content Creation. The three-day programme brought together 28 participants from government agencies and public institutions to strengthen their strategic communication and digital production skills.

Lao National Television Marks 76 Years of Lao Media Lao National Television has marked the 76th anniversary of Lao Media and Publication Day, highlighting the continuing transformation of the country’s media sector. Lao media organisations are increasingly expanding beyond traditional television, radio and print to produce multimedia content, livestreams and short-form videos for digital and social platforms.

Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation will co-host ABU Robocon 2026 on 23 August at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong. Under the theme “Kung Fu Quest,” the competition will bring together leading university teams from 15 countries and regions. Participants will design and operate robots to complete challenges inspired by traditional Chinese martial arts, combining engineering, artificial intelligence, strategy and teamwork.
