Leaving Charitable Gifts in Your Will
Leaving a gift to charity in your Will is an easy, impactful way to support causes you care about. You can leave a fixed amount, a particular item or a share of your residuary estate. These make a long-lasting difference to the charities, and they can also be tax-efficient as gifts to UK-qualifying charities are usually exempt from Inheritance Tax (IHT). Pecuniary gift: a set sum of money to a named charity. Specific gift: a particular item (e.g. property, jewellery, artwork, shares).

Will the Employment Rights Bill Actually be Detrimental for Employees?
The stated intention of the Labour government’s reform of employment law, via the Employment Rights Bill, is to achieve “the biggest upgrade in employment rights for a generation”. James Symons, Director and Solicitor in our Employment Law team, explains more. The headline changes are the reduction of the qualifying period for unfair dismissal (the current two-year period will be reduced to six months), restricting the use of “fire and rehire” and banning exploitative zero-hours contracts.
