SEPT 8 FACEBOOK__In the early morning hours of September 8, 2025, the Ada Police Department responded to a call for service within the Village regarding a suspicious male attempting to enter residences and vehicles. The Ada Police Department was able to locate and apprehend the male. During the apprehension, several items were located that we believe were stolen prior to the arrest.

Writing a news story has certainly come easier than tackling QuickBooks Online. I’m going to begin with a huge thank you to Icon readers. In the past 12 months, there have been 12K returning users to the Ada Icon home page with som 2.5K active users, according to Google Analytics.

Bulldog boys soccer blanks Spencerville
By Cort Reynolds ADA__The Ada High School boys soccer team defeated visiting Spencerville 4-0 in a non-league match on Saturday, September 6. The shutout win upped the Bulldog record to 3-2-1. Ada scored all four goals in the first half by a pair of juniors. The Bearcats fell to 0-4-1 with the defeat. “I’m really proud of the team’s performance today,” said Ada head coach Aaron Acheson. “We came out with intensity, controlled possession, and created a lot of chances.
Bulldog volleyball sweeps tri-match
By Cort Reynolds MT. CORY__The Ada High School volleyball team swept a tri-match at Cory-Rawson on Saturday, September 6. The non-league wins improved the Bulldog girls record to 8-1. Ada rallied to beat Delphos Jefferson 22-25, 25-14, 25-12. Junior setter Jaylin St. Laurent served three aces and dished out 17 assists. Brooklynn Andreasen served up three aces, came up with three blocks and hit eight kills. Dailah Preston drilled six kills, dealt a pair of aces and made five blocks.
Bulldog girls soccer shuts out Spencerville
By Cort Reynolds ADA__The Ada High School girls soccer team defeated visiting Spencerville 3-0 in a non-league match at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 6. The Bulldog girls improved to 8-1 with the decisive win. The Bearcats dropped to 0-4-1 after the defeat. Ada junior Kenley Poling netted a hat trick to score all three goals in the game. Emily Shanks passed out two assists, and Ashley Williams dished out one helper. Ada keeper Emily Gibson made five saves in goal.

Registration is open for Polar Buddies mentoring program
SEPT 5 MEDIA RELEASE– Polar Buddies, an Ohio Northern University partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hardin County, is excited to announce that registration for 2025-2026 is now open. ONU college students (“Bigs”) serve as mentors for Ada area students Kindergarden-8th grade (“Littles”) getting together twice a month for fun and meaningful activities. Polar Buddies will meet as a group after school in the school cafeteria on the first Fridays of the month.
Bulldog football loss to Red Devils
By Cort Reynolds ARLINGTON __The visiting Ada football team was outscored 21-7 in the second half and lost 34-14 to Arlington in the Blanchard Valley Conference opener on Friday, September 5. The Bulldogs fell to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the BVC with the road defeat. Meanwhile, the Red Devils improved to 3-0 and 1-0 in league play after the home win. The Bulldogs fell behind early and never caught up. Red Devil quarterback Josh Heacock tossed five touchdown passes to pace the victors.
