ULAANBAATAR, MONGOLIA (11 September 2026) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $130 million loan to reduce overcrowding and improve access to quality education in Mongolia. The loan is the second additional financing for an ongoing project and will support the construction and expansion of 33 schools and kindergartens, update teaching and learning materials, and upgrade education management systems.

ULAANBAATAR, MONGOLIA (9 September 2026) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a $30 million loan (in togrog equivalent) with Tavan Bogd Holdings LLC to finance the construction of Mongolia's first green-certified residential complex developed by the private sector. The financing will help expand sustainable housing, reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions, and introduce internationally recognized green building standards to Mongolia's residential real estate market.

Over the past three decades, sustained economic growth has contributed to a dramatic reduction in extreme monetary poverty across Asia and the Pacific. The share of the population living in extreme poverty has fallen from more than six in ten people in 1990 to an estimated one in thirty by 2025. This achievement represents one of the region's most significant development successes. Yet many of today's development challenges cannot be understood through income measures alone.

Digital finance has brought millions of people in Uzbekistan into the formal financial system. The next challenge is ensuring that access helps households save, manage risks, and invest in economic opportunities. A woman in rural Uzbekistan can now receive remittances on her bank card, pay bills by mobile phone, and transfer money without visiting a branch. A small business owner can accept payments with a smartphone.
