Deputy Chief Technical Officer (Design Services) of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW), Jason Bowen, says the Ministry has noticed a number of unauthorised billboards and sandwich boards which have been popping up on local highways. Business owners have been advised to remove these signs as soon as possible as the Ministry, in approximately one month, will remove sandwich boards and other advertising material from sidewalks, street islands, verges, road signs, and other street furniture.

Proactive Approaches & Investment Vital To Disaster Resilience
The need for proactive approaches, enhanced public investment to protect vulnerable populations and infrastructure, while ensuring sustainable and people-centred resilience, was underscored during a World Food Programme (WFP) regional workshop. Director of the Department of Emergency Management, Kerry Hinds, pointed out that traditional approaches aren’t the way to address multi-hazards and building resilience.
WORK ON THE NATIONAL STADIUM AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
by David Harris The construction of the new National Stadium is ahead of schedule; this was disclosed by Minister of Sports Charles Griffith during an update to journalists on the progress of several sports faculties. Work on the construction of a new National Stadium at Waterford, St Michael began in September last year. The project is being executed in phases through an $80 million grant from the People’s Republic of China and is expected to span two years.

Barbados must undergird its ability to strengthen its relationship with Korea as it seeks cooperation on training and development in diplomatic relations and financial investment in battery storage technology in the renewable energy sector.
