Muriel was born to Merrill and Ora Allred in the middle of the Depression on December 16, 1932 in the Salt Lake City LDS Hospital. By the time she was six months old her family moved back to Emery, Utah to farm. She adored her siblings; two older brothers, Wells and Jim, and three older sisters, Marcella, Richine, and Reila; and was close to her younger brother, Ellis. She was pampered as one of the youngest children and loved her childhood in Emery.

Timpview got the ball first and managed to penetrate as far as the Caveman 33-yard line, but on 4th-and-3, an attempted throw went through the hands of the receiver with sophomore defensive back Brayden Litke right there on the coverage and the ball went over on downs.

Aug. 13: Mountain Ridge 3, American Fork 1 The Cavemen played well on the road in their opening two games against the Sentinels, pushing the first one to an extra point before bowing 24-26 and winning the second one 25-15.

The patient developed a rare, serious form of the illness, prompting health officials to urge residents to take precautions against mosquito bites. The patient developed neuroinvasive disease, which can affect the nervous system and may require hospitalization.

On the first day of school, students, parents and faculty gather on the football field for the annual opening ceremony. The program honors our nation, its heritage, and Old Glory. “For us, it signifies the beginning of another school year, that we’re all in. This is a big start. The cannon goes off, and that’s it.

STAFF WRITER | American Fork Citizen Two new schools serving students with disabilities have opened at the former Sharon Elementary School in Orem. Alpine School District held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, Aug. 17, for Silver Peak School and the Timpanogos Transition and Education Center. The renovated facility is located at 525 N. 400 East within the boundaries of the future Timpanogos School District. Silver Peak will serve students with severe disabilities in grades pre-K through 12.

Beky Beaton / American Fork Citizen The American Fork football team gave a creditable effort against powerhouse Mater Dei in Santa Ana (CA) on Friday (Aug. 21), but the Monarchs eventually prevailed 31-11. The first victory was holding the home squad out of the end zone the entire first quarter. However, Mater Dei broke through in the second period, first scoring a safety and then a rushing touchdown. The Monarchs elected to go for two and converted for a 10-0 lead at the 5:28 mark.

Staff Writer | American Fork Citizen Utah Valley University (UVU) has launched the Freshman Concurrent Enrollment Merit Scholarship, aimed at rewarding high school students who took college courses through its concurrent enrollment program. Qualifying students can earn up to $20,000 toward their degree. UVU’s Concurrent Enrollment Program has long given high school students access to real college courses that are affordable and high-quality, allowing them to jump start their higher education.

Staff Writer | American Fork Citizen The Timpanogos School District (TSD) Board of Education considered a formal proposal to launch public boundary studies and evaluate potential school consolidations and closures during its meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 26. This pivotal action marks the “Optimize” phase of the district’s comprehensive boundary study, known as MOABS (Mother of All Boundary Studies).
