After a brief but very enjoyable first season, Chad Powers Season 2 returns to Disney+ and Hulu with a much more suspenseful installment. Glen Powell continues to be as charismatic and fun as ever as the titular character, while Perry Mattfeld‘s Coach Ricky takes on an even larger role in Season 2, and the series benefits from it.

From Friendsin the 1990s and How I Met Your Mother in the 2000s to New Girl in the 2010s, a group of friends in their late 20s to early 30s living together as they navigate their lives has always been a recipe for a successful sitcom. Now, in the 2020s, Adults Season 2 is primed to carry the mantle as one of the most hilarious shows on television, adapting the same types of stories as its predecessors in a much more modern fashion.

Coyote vs. Acme became the most important Looney Tunes movie without even intending to be. The film was set to release on July 21, 2023, before Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) swapped it out for Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. After months without a new release date, WBD shocked fans by saying they’d no longer release the finished film for a $30 million tax write-off. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time the studio pulled the plug on one of their films.

Wonder Man was cancelled despite being a critical darling and earning Emmy nominations in the MCU, and reports are that DC Studios is no longer moving forward on projects like Waller and Paradise Lost.

Everyone’s favorite gigantic force of nature, Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson), is back with Season 4 of his titular series on Prime Video. For those unfamiliar, Reacheris based on the best-selling Jack Reacher novels written by Lee Child. As always, each season brings a new cast of supporting characters and a new foe, but this is an adversary Reacher isn’t used to facing — one that’s one step ahead of him. Star Wars needs no introduction. The iconic space opera franchise that began in 1977 continues to expand with its first anime series. In 2021, Disney+ brought a collection of nine shorts from seven anime studios with Star Wars: Visions. Among those was “The Ninth Jedi,” and a subsequent episode “Child of Hope” in Season 3, from Production I.G., which both quickly became fan favorites.

Batman: Caped Crusaderreturns for a gripping second season, picking up in the aftermath of Rupert Thorne’s (Cedric Yarbrough) downfall. Gotham City may have survived one battle, but the consequences continue to ripple through every corner of the city. Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 wastes little time raising the stakes while naturally building upon the foundation established in its predecessor.

Christopher Nolan is back, retelling one of the oldest surviving stories in history, but this time on the big screen. Fresh off the success of Oppenheimer, director Christopher Nolan’s take on the Homeric epic has finally arrived in theaters, and it’s worth seeing the film on the biggest screen possible. The Odyssey began as an oral tradition that was later written down in ancient Greece, traditionally attributed to Homer (though the story of who Homer might’ve been is an Odyssey in itself).

After introducing Solsein Academy in the season premiere, Clevatess Season 2 Episode 2 jumps straight into the classroom. The episode spends much of its time familiarizing viewers with academy life while introducing more of the teachers and students. Every interaction serves a larger purpose as the academy begins revealing what makes it so important. Above all else, this episode places magic at the center of the experience.

When it comes to live-action adaptations from Disney, the hope is that it’s better than the original or provides new context that makes the story worth retelling. From their biggest box-office hits like The Lion King to bombs like Snow White, Disney showcases that more often than not, a bit of Disney magic can still get audiences back into theatres, like seeing Dwayne Johnson rock an interesting wig.
