August Nymex natural gas (NGQ26) on Friday closed down -0.072 (-2.39%). Nat-gas prices added to Thursday’s losses on Friday and posted a 1.5-month low. Nat-gas prices are under pressure as US weather forecasts shifted to show cooler weather in the coming weeks, which could potentially curb demand for gas-fired electricity as consumers use less air conditioning.

August WTI crude oil (CLQ26) on Friday closed down -0.67 (-0.93%), and August RBOB gasoline (RBQ26) closed down -0.0541 (-1.78%). Crude oil and gasoline prices gave up an early advance on Friday and moved lower as prices whipsawed on various news headlines. Crude prices initially jumped on Friday after Iran vowed to respond to the US attacks this week on Iran’s rail and maritime infrastructure.

Seagate Technology (STX) is extending gains on Friday morning after a senior Wells Fargo analyst issued a bullish note in favor of the data storage specialist. Aaron Rakers now rates the Nasdaq-listed firm “Overweight” with a $1,100 price target, which signals potential for another 22% rally from current levels. His constructive view is particularly significant given that Seagate stock is already trading at more than 3x its price at the start of this year.

Meta Platforms (META) remains one of the most important stocks in the market, for a number of reasons. The world's largest social media company has one of the most robust followings in terms of daily use of any company. I think that grip on its core consumer — with most people in the world already using Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, or another one of Meta's platforms — could be getting stronger. That is, if Meta's recently unveiled Muse Image AI model is what many expect it will be.

All eyes are on the South Korean semiconductor powerhouse, SK Hynix (SKHY), this morning as it makes a highly anticipated debut on the Nasdaq. The artificial intelligence (AI) memory chip maker’s historic U.S. initial public offering (IPO) raised a staggering $26.5 billion, representing the largest-ever U.S. listing by a foreign company. The offering consisted of 177.9 million American depositary shares (ADS) priced at $149 each.

October NY world sugar #11 (SBV26) on Friday closed down -0.24 (-1.59%), and Aug London ICE white sugar #5 (SWQ26) closed down -11.50 (-2.40%). Sugar prices fell sharply on Friday, with London sugar posting a 1.5-week low. Friday’s -1% fall in crude oil prices (CLQ26) weighed on sugar prices. Lower crude oil prices undercut ethanol prices and could persuade global sugar mills to divert more cane crushing toward sugar production rather than ethanol, thus boosting sugar supplies.

September arabica coffee (KCU26) on Friday closed down -13.65 (-3.92%), and September ICE robusta coffee (RMU26) closed down -191 (-4.72%). Coffee prices settled sharply lower on Friday, continuing the volatile price swings seen this week. After Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) raised margin requirements for trading coffee futures twice this week, liquidity has dried up, prompting many commodity funds to close their positions and leading to excessive one-way price moves.

Circle Internet Group (CRCL) shares are pushing higher on Friday after the company received the final regulatory clearance to establish a national trust bank. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s (OCC) approval for Circle National Trust brings the company under direct federal oversight within the national banking system.
