The American Hospital Association (AHA) is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and 43,000 individual members come together to form the AHA.
Through our representation and advocacy activities, AHA ensures that members' perspectives and needs are heard and addressed in national health policy development, legislative and regulatory debates, and judicial matters. Our advocacy efforts include the legislative and executive branches and include the legislative and regulatory arenas.
Founded in 1898, the AHA provides education for health care leaders and is a source of information on health care issues and trends. Source

NIST, CISA issue guidelines on protecting authentication tools from forgery, theft
The National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure and Security Agency have released guidelines to protect authentication tools including access tokens and identity assertions from cyber criminals. Services such as single sign-on, which are extensively used in hospitals and health systems, increasingly rely on signed tokens and identity assertions and could be targeted by cyber actors to conduct forgery, theft and misuse and access sensitive data.
Healthcare organizations, including AHA, host Captiol Hill briefing to raise awareness of workplace violence
A Capitol Hill briefing Sept. 17 in Washington, D.C., hosted by 11 national healthcare organizations, including the AHA, highlighted the growing epidemic of workplace violence and its effects on staff well-being and patient safety. At the briefing, titled Protecting Those Who Care: Addressing Violence Against Healthcare Workers, Hill staff heard panelists’ personal experiences with physical and verbal attacks on the job and how hospitals are working to reduce the incidence of violence.

Pennsylvania health department announces 2 additional measles deaths, bringing total to 4
The Pennsylvania Department of Health Sept. 15 announced the confirmation of two additional measles-associated deaths, bringing the state’s total to four. The department said both individuals were unvaccinated. The state previously announced two measles-associated deaths on Aug. 25. So far this year, there have been 693 confirmed measles cases across the state. As of Sept. 11, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that 3,294 confirmed measles cases have been reported nationwide.
