Rendering courtesy of ODOT GREEN — A new truck parking area is coming to the City of Green along Interstate 77 northbound south of Graybill Road. In 2024, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine directed the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to address the need for additional commercial truck parking sites.

Anderson Ambition will open July 11 at Boettler Oaks Drive in Green. Personal trainer James Anderson is set to open a private strength coaching facility this month. The gym will offer free monthly confidence-building sessions for local teens.

During her freshman year of high school, Elmiger was approached by her art teacher, Shannon Bowman, about painting a mural at the restaurant.

BARBERTON: A 37th Street Southwest man reported to police June 29 that his mother had purposely broken a window panel on a door. The woman was charged with criminal damaging. A woman was charged with theft June 29 after she stole breakfast sandwiches and snacks from a Fifth Street Northeast business. The woman was found to have a warrant out of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, and she was turned over to that department. She was banned from the business.

I have read about the proposed decision to transition the City of Green’s tax administration to the Regional Income Tax Authority (RITA). As an accountant by profession (although not a tax accountant), I have helped family members complete their annual municipal tax returns with RITA. I believe this is the most “non-user-friendly” tax service I have encountered. Looking online to see how other taxpayers feel about RITA, I would say my opinion is with the majority.

District also OKs settlement agreement NEW FRANKLIN — During the June 30 Manchester Local Schools Board of Education meeting, the board approved several financial matters to close out Fiscal Year 2026. The board approved the end of the year transfers, the amount of which Treasurer Jennifer Rucker said was about half of the previous year, with only approximately $9,000 being transferred from the General Fund. She added athletics brought in more money this past fiscal year.

NEW FRANKLIN — Three New Franklin roads scheduled for paving this year were recently moved to next year’s paving list due to another project in the area. Mayor Steve Rector announced at the July 1 New Franklin City Council meeting that Hyman Avenue, Durbin Avenue and Coleman Drive were removed from the 2026 paving list when the city was contacted by representatives from Enbridge about a gas pipeline project this fall.
