The Journal of the Australian Library and Information Association is the flagship journal of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). It is a quarterly publication for information science researchers, information professionals, related disciplines and industries. The Journal aims to stimulate discussion and inform practice by showcasing original peer reviewed research articles and other scholarly papers about, or relevant to, the Australian and Southern Asia Pacific regions. Authors from the full range of information professions and areas of scholarship are invited to contribute their work to the Journal.
Peer review statement: All Research and Research-in-Practice articles in JALIA have undergone double-blind peer review. Information-in-practice papers will undergo editorial screening. Source

In the second Research Review Seminar of 2024, we will meet two of the three-person researcher team awarded the 2024 ALIA Research Grant Award worth $10,000. Dr Kay Oddone (CSU) and Tabitha Merrell (CSU) (Dr Lizzie Tait (UniSA) will unfortunately be travelling). The researchers and practitioners will be undertaking a project titled Voices of change: Harnessing LIS Student Insights to Transform Information Literacy Education with Gen AI and Universal Design for Learning.

After another fantastic year in the GLAM land of libraries, we would like to invite you to lunch at Bendooley Estate, where we will dine amongst the books inside the Berkelouw Book Barn. This is a chance for us to get together to share stories of the year that has been. For those that are interested, there is also a winery on site, and you may choose to stay on after lunch to peruse the books (and perhaps bring some home with you) or book a wine tasting as there is vineyard onsite.

About ALIA Information Online Conference ALIA information Online provides the platform as a meeting point for the library and Information industry across Asia-Pacific. This year’s conference, Transformation & Disruption, will take place virtually on Tuesday, 18 March, Wednesday, 19 March, and Thursday, 20 March 2025. Each day will cover a specific theme for discussion: Indigenous Knowledges, Greening GLAMR, and AI and the Future of Library Technology.
Australians are borrowing six books a year as public libraries see strong growth post-pandemic
Canberra, 29 October: Australians are borrowing six books a year from their public library on average and are more likely to be borrowing an ebook or audiobook than they were pre-pandemic, according to the latest Public Library Statistical Report, released today.
