Fall repeats, recent saves + the book I couldn’t put down. I was a book sloth (as my friend Grace Atwood says) this weekend… well, in between my son’s soccer tournament… and it was glorious. We were actually supposed to be in Hawaii this past weekend/week, and it was the book I had planned to read on the beach… but we postponed our trip due to the weather. And honestly?

I just changed three times before going to volunteer in my daughter’s classroom. Everything I put on made me feel blah… either boring, sloppy or unexciting. I didn’t want to wear a sweatshirt, but I also didn’t want to wear anything too nice since it was for their morning art project—and the last time I volunteered was a splatter paint day.

While I only made it to a few things at the start of New York Fashion Week (I was originally there for a girls’ trip over the long weekend, when my husband said I should extend for a bit longer for the start of Fashion Week)… a little spontaneous, which always adds to the excitement… I left with a cup-filling dose of NY inspiration.

Hii from New York! I’m sitting in my hotel lobby on this gorgeous morning—sipping my coffee and just so happy to be back. I spent the long weekend here with a girlfriend and am here through the week for meetings and the start of Fashion Week. I actually haven’t been to Fashion Week in years… maybe not since I worked at ELLE, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Morning! I started putting together a bit of an early fall cheat sheet for those of us who are busy and don’t want to think too much about it. I’m also heading to New York later this week, and I have a feeling I’ll have an even better edit / more inspiration for you when I get back. But here’s where my mind is at the moment… what I’m pulling back out to wear now and what I’m looking forward to checking out while in NY! Plaid Jacket. Wrap Jacket Gray & Camel. Jeans. Bag. Anti-Aging Serum. Scoop Knit.

I was pulling together a little checklist for myself for a few upcoming lunches, meetings, and dinners I have on the calendar… and as I started to wrap my mind around looks and packing, I thought maybe I should just share it with you all?! I’m still a little all over the place, but I figured pulling together some inspiration might help me narrow it down—and hopefully help any of you who have similar plans coming up, too.

I’ve been in the Bay quite a bit this past week, and the cooler weather has given me a true taste of fall. Karl (the fog) has felt especially cozy, and I’ve been loving it. That said, getting dressed is always a bit of a head-scratcher when it’s hot at home but chilly once you cross the bridge. Going back and forth between the two has had me reaching for layers. Lately, what’s felt right is any combination of white, black and chocolate brown accessories.

I’m trying to channel that back-to-school energy from my kids this week… but they started with two half days, so I’m not quite feeling the productivity yet! HA. BUT let’s play a little catch-up!? From balmy nights in Mexico to cooler days back home and in the Bay… playing favorites with a few pieces I’ve been wearing and loving, plus a couple of things currently on my radar.

Coming in hot (literally) after a very sweaty two-day weekend at my son’s soccer tournament. It got me thinking about summer sports mom life because, if I'm being honest, these are the clothes I wear more than anything else. Plus, we were home all of July for once, which gave me a real glimpse into what I actually wear around the house, taking my kids to camp and sports practices, and running day-to-day errands (as opposed to the excitement of vacation dressing).

To be honest, I've been living in a lot of the same staples lately. We've been home for most of July, which has been so nice—just enjoying these slower summer weeks. Lots of carpooling to and from soccer, basketball, and swim. My summer camp mom uniform has been a mix of oversized tees, longer shorts, breezy button-ups, and easy slip on sandals. And swimsuits in-between! That said, I do have a few great summer essentials to report back on.
