“And We have sent the fertilizing winds, then We sent down water from the sky and gave it to you to drink; and you are not the keepers of its stores.” Wa arsalnā r-riyāḥa lawāqiḥa fa-anzalnā mina s-samā’i mā’an fa-asqaynākumūhu wa mā antum lahu bi-khāzinīn ( Al Hijr15:23) This verse draws our attention to a simple but profound reality. Even though there is water stored beneath the earth, human life still depends on fresh rain.

Freedom of choice necessitates polarity. The Promised Messiah refers to it as Qabz and Bast. Periods of contraction and expansion. High and low. The Chinese call it yin and yang. Some never rebound from the periods of low. They remain stuck in spiritual winter. The antidote to the pitfalls of polarity is repentance on our part and mercy on Allah’s part. The guiding principle is that all divine actions are rooted in Allah’s love and mercy.

Their defining quality is continuous progress. A person who becomes stagnant risks decline, for a faith that does not grow begins to weaken.

Purity of heart, the right company, steadfastness, and constant reliance on the Qur’an all matter, but in the end it is not our effort or our good deeds that save us. It is the grace of God that holds the heart firm and leads a believer safely through trials. The verse, “Even if We had not strengthened thee with the Quran, thou wouldst have inclined to them but little” (Bani Isra’il 17:75), opens a profound window into the nature of human weakness and Divine grace.

Each day begins with one question. Is God pleased with me ? This is the only real concern.Everything else follows from it. Wake before Fajr.Stand for Tahajjud. Speak to your Lord in humility.Name your fears.Confess your weaknesses.Ask for strength and protection.Seek steadfastness in obedience to Khilafat. Seek to live and die as a humble member of the Jama’at. Stay informed about its programs and directives. Attend congregational prayers and meetings when possible.

Islam does not discourage questions. It disciplines them. It calls for thoughtful, purposeful, and timely inquiry. Between neglecting doubts and indulging in excess lies the straight path. Questions are a sign of life in the mind. They can clarify faith or cloud it. The distinction lies in purpose, relevance, and humility. The Qur’an sets a clear principle.

We have all been bystanders at some point. Not because we do not care, but because we assume someone else will act, or we hesitate, or we tell ourselves it is too small to matter. Responsibility feels lighter when it is shared, and so it is often ignored. Yet the way forward is simple and within reach. We act without waiting. We take ownership of small moments. We choose to do what is right even when no one asks.

When travel goes wrong, a Plan B, prayers, and patience can turn disruption into calm. Flight delays and disruptions have become increasingly common. They unsettle carefully made plans and create a deep sense of helplessness. One often feels that control over one’s time and movement has been taken away. This leads to frustration, anxiety, and at times anger. Yet a believer is never without agency. Prudence requires that one always anticipates uncertainty.
