All Mixt Up

Happy Last Day of Prek3 at New York City Public Schools for all who celebrate! I’m not gonna lie, I am very unprepared for substackU this week. But I am reaaaaaally trying to stay consistent with writing, because my brain needs consistency to believe things are real. So here we are, trying! Also, I don’t know about you, but this time of year (helloooo cancer season) naturally activates sad girl summer vibes for me. But something equally powerful is brewing within.

HAPPY FRIDAY/KNICKS IN FIVE/JUNETEENTH! In honor of Juneteenth and the Knicks winning the 2026 NBA Championship, I’m taking a break from writing this week and asked my wonderful, white, ally, husband, Sam, to fill in. Sam is a lifelong Knicks fan and has taught me everything I know about this team past and present.

I fully forgot to send this last week, but we’re jumping right in! Lenox Lyn Walker aka Lenny Lyn aka Lenny Lentils, Lenwich, Leonardo, Lenny Bug, Lilly (when Wes is trolling her), Lenita Petita turned ONE two-ish weeks ago, and I am deeeeep in my feels about it. I’m also feeling major parent/life burn out right now, but I’m desperately trying to dig myself out of the mud a la the Knicks in game 4 of the NBA finals.

Heyaaaaaaaaaaa! This week I’ve been working around the clock (I’m.not.kidding) to get ready for Lenny’s first birthday celebration, so writing has taken a back seat. But rest assured — I’ll be back next week with mannnnnnny words about having a daughter who is one year old. Happy birthday Lenox Lyn Walker! a short stack Hi hi, This week has felt like a combination of cement, honey and thunderstorms. While there is a lot I want to write about and share, I’m pressing a gentle pause on my need to make! create! and produce! right now. Hello from the other siiiiiiide, I wanted to start by saying thank you thank you THANK YOU to every single person who reached out to me about last week’s post to celebrate my rage and share similar sentiments. I really do believe we all just want to feel seen and like our feelings aren’t too much. I will say that I’m feeling a bit chippier this week.

Hey what’s up hello, I’d like to start by acknowledging that I’ve already failed at my intention of posting a new substack article every Wednesday. Friday it is until it isn’t! Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I’d also like to announce that I am experiencing a level of rage coarsing through my veins that is powerfullllll. At first, I considered skipping writing this week, waiting until I could think of something more uplifting and joyous to share with you. But then I thought — fuck it.

Hey You! I should’ve predicted that my return to substack after a two year hiatus (almost to the day!) would be extremely anticlimactic. That one day (today) I would just decide (five minutes ago) to abandon the 40 million ideas I had for the perfect come back post, and just…. write something….
