After nearly two decades of governing the Gaza Strip, Hamas has announced it will dissolve its government and hand over power to a new, Palestinian technocratic governing authority.

Hamas announced Monday that it was dissolving the emergency committee overseeing Gaza's civilian government, a move that could clear the way for a new U.S.-backed administration to take over civilian affairs.

Some on the left voiced frustration with their own party, with Mattew Yglesias (Lean Left) saying, “Stop being dupes for leftists who don’t care about beating MAGA.” Others agreed that he should have been more thoroughly vetted but added, “We’re only going to do better if the idealism that propelled him into public life survives.” Voices on the right saw the Democrats as hypocritical for championing women’s rights while ignoring Platner flaws for so long.

Mainers who were all in for Graham Platner should take some time to figure out how they got it so wrong. They should ask themselves why they ignored so many warning signs to embrace a mystery man with a quirky background. Sure, Platner's undeniable charisma came through loud and clear every time he took the stage and often in front of the cameras. I felt best about him after a long off-the-record chat in the spring. In person, he comes across as a good guy with his heart in the right place.

The family of a Mexican man shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Houston on Tuesday is demanding answers from Trump administration officials. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo died at the hospital after the encounter with federal immigration officers, which took place just before 7 a.m. local time Tuesday.
