Some of these epithets might simply reflect commentators’ limited repertoire of alliance metaphors.

We need to talk about a potential A.I. famine. If we do nothing, starving A.I. chatbots may be left with nothing to eat but their own responses. Think of a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy (if you remember photocopies). Quality degrades; mistakes amplify and dominate. The result is what experts describe as model collapse. Imagine a world where A.I. slop is even worse. It’s not a future we want. I know this because I did my part to head off where we are now.

My patient was 14 years old the first time his grandmother drove him two hours to my clinic. He told me he tried weed when he was 8 and had been smoking or vaping it daily since he was 12, often using highly concentrated products purchased from friends or dealers. “It helps me relax”, said the patient, who moved in with his grandmother after his mother died and his father was incarcerated. His life told a different story.

A luxury condo building flogs its “community clubhouse” as an exciting amenity, and yet another social start-up informs me, rather ominously, that “we find your people”.
