The project is delivered by the TrackWorks consortium, bringing together Alstom and civil works partner Terna Tourist Technical and Maritime Societe Anonyme – a partnership which is also responsible for delivery of Lot 1 works on this rail section. Alstom will provide ERTMS Level 2 digital signalling, GSM‑R communications, and modernised electrification across the entire section, while Terna will manage the civil works. The contract foresees a 60‑month implementation period.

TransEd, the public-private partnership that includes Alstom and its partners, currently operates and maintains the Valley Line Southeast LRT in Edmonton. Edmonton is a bustling city of over a million people in Alberta, Canada. It is the northernmost metropolis of its size in North America. Since November 2023, the city has been enjoying a new addition to its public transit service: the Valley Line Southeast LRT.

Alstom signs contract with CPTM to implement the signalling system for the new Mauá Norte Yard in Greater São Paulo
The agreement provides for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a complete signalling system, including electronic interlocking, field equipment for operating and controlling track switches, trackside light signals and train occupancy detection, all designed in compliance with the highest level of safety integrity (SIL 4: Safety Integrity Level 4).

L'accord prévoit la fourniture, l'installation, les essais et la mise en service d'un système complet de signalisation, comprenant un système d'interverrouillage électronique, des équipements de bord de voie pour l'actionnement et le contrôle des appareils de changement de voie (AMV), des signaux lumineux de voie et un système de détection de la présence des trains, le tout conçu conformément au plus haut niveau d'intégrité de sécurité (niveau SIL 4).

Ce mercredi, après les derniers essais en conditions réelles, le premier tramway de type Urbanliner de BVG a été officiellement mis en service sur la ligne M4. Avec leurs 50 mètres de long, ces rames éclipsent nettement les anciens tramways berlinois.

Today, Wednesday 15 July 2026, the first ‘Urbanliner’ tram at the BVG officially entered regular service following final field trials. At 50 metres in length, the trams significantly outshine Berlin’s previous models.
