I Want to Be Her!

Hi! I’m so happy to finally be wearing my spanking new 4Objects Swiss dot cotton shirt that’s slightly sheer, cool, and breezy but makes you feel dressed (I’ve been waiting a long time, and it’s finally available!). Since you can kind of make out my lacy Else Zoe bra underneath, I’m giving her a shoutout.

I have always loved silky slips of all kinds, from real underpinnings to pieces with a lacy lingerie vibe (I loved a hacked-off vintage one over Martin jeans (iykyk) in my Lucky days). So I hightailed it over to Dôen on Sunday, with the sole purpose of trying on all the diaphanous silk versions, and reporting back to my friends Anne and Stacy.

It was so ridiculously hot in New York the other day that I couldn’t imagine wearing anything but all white—namely, a Goldie Tees tank and my Zadig skirt, that’s light as a feather and feels like one owned by a Victorian maiden gone wild.

I am in love with my new paper-thin vintage DKNY pants that I scored just last week at Adele’s Attic in Truckee while visiting my pal Heidi. They’re a purer white than they read in the photos, and I’ve been wearing them every chance I get, with most things in my closet. Pants with a similar idea include these, these, these, these, this cool sandy style, and this pair that always seems to be selling out (and I’m into some of the other colors, too).

Since I was not born with anything close to resembling pouty lips, I have used all kinds of plumpers and will try anything I can get my hands on. I have to say, Buxom’s Plump Shot actually does something, and I love the slight tingle. While I usually just go for clear, and there are a gazillion shades to choose from, I’ve been using a few dabs of Fuchsia You, which would normally seem like too much for me, but somehow ends up looking like a subtle, natural tint.

It’s that time when I want as little fabric touching me as possible (Hello 101 in New York City on Thursday). I even roll up my short-sleeved tees 1950s-style, like the cool cats did with a pack of smokes, just to get as much air on me as possible. Anyway, this is when we could all use a couple of “nothing” dresses in light cotton and other breathable mixes to wear at the beach, around town, dressed up, etc.
