Wildwoodis easily LAIKA’s most anticipated release since Coraline, and they’re riding on the hype with the release of a final trailer, which you can check out in the player above. As with the other previews, it simply looks stunning. In addition, a brand new poster has also been revealed, which you can check out below. In a recent column, Variety boldly predicted that Wildwood would be nominated for Best Picture at next year’s Academy Awards.
No one likes Tom & Jerry’s new movie Forbidden Compass
You might not have known it, but there’s a new Tom & Jerry movie in theaters. Kind of. Released in China in 2025 (the cat and mouse duo remain extremely popular in Asia), Tom & Jerry: Forbidden Compass opened in theaters this past Wednesday on September 9th (presumably to avoid coming out on the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on Friday), but it’s reportedly playing on less than 1,000 screens.
The Cat in the Hat brings chaos to the party in final trailer
The final trailer for The Cat in the Hat is now online (more than an entire year after its first teaser was released), and you can check it out in the player above. Be warned the preview might be filled with potential spoilers as this seems to be a cliff notes version of the plot. In addition, Warner Bros. has quietly released a full theme song for the titular character on YouTube. It’s very catchy. You can hear it for yourself here.
2026 San Diego Comic Con Exclusive
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. When over 125,000 flock to San Diego, California from around the world for the mecca of all things pop culture: the San Diego Comic Con. From July 22 through 29, 2026, the San Diego Convention Center, and pretty much the rest of downtown San Diego to be honest, was flooded with an endless sea of humanity to celebrate geek culture and fandom. From comic books to movies to animation to television to video games and just about everything else in-between.
Wildwood officially rated PG-13
Confirming reports from earlier this year, Wildwood has officially been rated PG-13 according to an MPA press bulletin.
Fathom changes poster for The Transformers: The Movie re-release following Peter Cullen’s passing
The Transformers: The Movie is set to be re-released by Fathom Events this September for its 40th anniversary, comedically dubbing itself “The Apology Tour” as a tongue-in-cheek means of making “amends” for emotionally devastating so many children with the film’s shocking death of Optimus Prime. Unfortunately, the marketing campaign has found itself the victim of poor timing following the passing of the “real” Optimus Peter Cullen earlier this week.
The Saga of Rex trailer was animated entirely by hand
The first trailer for The Saga of Rex–an independent, sixty-minute animated feature animated entirely by animator Michel Gagné–is now online for your viewing pleasure. A full press release and poster along with a still gallery for the ambitious project can be found below. The Saga of Rex is set to release sometime in 2027.

The full trailer for Laika’s much-anticipated¬†Wildwood¬†has finally been released online, and just like the previously released teaser, the scope on display here is absolutely massive. Although not “official” yet, it is also reportedly rated PG-13 and the longest stop-motion animated movie ever made. Wildwood–which is the studio’s first release in more than seven years–will be distributed as a Fathom Event this October. How far would you go for those you love?
Doom is coming for us all in epic new Doomsday preview
“We’ve had one, yes. What about second Doomsday trailer?” That might be the wrong franchise to reference, but Marvel fans have been given their second major look at Marvel’s upcoming mega-tentpole in less than a month. A new teaser for Avengers: Doomsday was shown at D23 tonight (and appears to be the same one shown at SDCC a few weeks ago), and you can check it out in the player above.
Coco to be featured in Kingdom Hearts IV
Kingdom Hearts fans have been waiting a long time for any definitive news on the next game, and in addition to a TV series being announced tonight, it was also revealed that Coco will soon be made explorable for players. A teaser for the new world was revealed at the D23 fan convention, and you can check it out in the player above. Kingdom Hearts IV is (currently) set for release sometime in 2027.
