Distro Media
Online/Digital
Distributed Media Technologies Corp. (“Distro”) is redesigning and redefining the news industry to thrive in the 21st century. The company was founded in 2024 by Bradley Keoun, an electrical engineer by training who went on to a three-decade career as an award-winning journalist with CoinDesk, Bloomberg, TheStreet and the Chicago Tribune. The core mission is to build an on-chain news production and delivery platform, reinventing the business model to incorporate the features and functionality of integrated crypto micropayments while harnessing back-office productivity gains from AI. The design will allow anyone – call it a large, established, institutional news organization; an individual freelancer covering a pop-up city for a month; a music blogger; a high school math teacher keeping parents up-to-date on in-class developments – to easily spin up a news publication and connect with motivated readers, and in doing so offer a path for advertisers to reach highly curated audiences. Additional benefits from blockchain infrastructure could include operational resilience and censorship resistance. Source

As traditional financial firms push into the commercial battleground of agentic payments, they're increasingly leaning into new blockchains and tokens, instead of relying on systems and products created years earlier by crypto startups and already widely adopted by long-time users. The latest example comes from Visa, the world's largest card network, which last week introduced a platform to let banks and fintechs issue and move stablecoins.
Claude makes Fable model standard, after getting memed on extensions
For two weeks, Anthropic ran a rolling countdown on its most powerful model. Free access to Fable 5 inside Claude's paid plans was set to expire – on July 5, then July 12, then July 19 – and each cutoff got pushed back at the last minute, spawning a small genre of memes about users burning weekends on frantic usage binges only to be told, again, that they had a few more days. Now the countdown is over.
Xi calls for global AI cooperation, chides U.S. curbs
Chinese President Xi Jinping said AI development and governance should be a collaborative global effort rather than dominated by any single nation, criticizing U.S.-led curbs on technology sharing as an "overstretching" of national security concerns.
DeAI project Sahara built 'human conversation framework' for Snap
Sahara AI, a decentralized-AI startup that pays people to gather and label AI training data, said it produced what it calls the "longest real-world human-to-human conversation framework ever collected for AI research" for Snapchat, which runs a consumer chatbot. The dataset, called REALTALK, began as a customer request from Snap, the parent of Snapchat, according to a blog post Sahara published Thursday.
Visa concedes its card rails weren't built for AI agents
Visa built a global empire on card networks. Now, in a report co-authored by a Visa expert, the payments giant acknowledges that the ubiquitous and essential system was never designed for the kind of commerce that AI agents are starting to do on their own. The emerging world of agentic payments will need to handle high-frequency, sub-penny purchases with near-instant confirmation and no pre-existing merchant relationships.
In Aethir pilot, agent hires another for research, pays in crypto
Aethir, a decentralized GPU cloud provider, on Wednesday said it had completed a case study in which an AI agent hired another to do a due diligent report, then arranged payment in crypto – offering a glimpse of how ecommerce might look in the era of artificial intelligence. In the "Aethir Claw A2A Payments Case Study," developers ran two hosted agents on Aethir's Claw deployment platform, according to a company blog post.
The future is here as blockchain-based robots get their own AI agents
Based on futuristic predictions, humans could have as many as 100 AI agents working for them within a decade. Guess who else might get their own agents? Robots. Peaq, a layer-1 blockchain built for machines, and Virtuals Protocol, an on-chain marketplace of AI agents, said Tuesday in a blog post hat a new integration pairs robots and machines with their own AI agent that can shop and pay on their behalf, without a human in the loop.
NEAR joins herd of blockchain projects embracing x402 for AI payments
The foundation backing NEAR blockchain said Tuesday it has joined a group of firms backing x402 agentic payments, under a standard originally developed by the U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase but now gaining traction as an open-source project. The vote of confidence carries additional heft since NEAR is led by Iliia Polosukhin, who was a pioneer in AI development before he switched to focus on blockchain.
Nous Research said to discuss fundraise of $75M at $1.5B valuation

0G integrates Ethereum's standard for agentic identity, reputation
0G, a blockchain built for AI agents, said Tuesday that its deployment of ERC-8004, the Ethereum ecosystem's Trustless Agents standard, has been merged into the standard's official contracts repository. The merge, made on June 11, adds 0G mainnet and its Galileo testnet to the standard's address registry, according to a company blog post. Two of the standard's three registries, Identity and Reputation, are now live at the canonical addresses.
