In December 2024, 11 British Army football referees embarked on a remarkable journey to, Florida, to participate in two prestigious international youth football tournaments. The tournaments were hosted at the IMG Academy in Sarasota, which is a first-class facility for sport and education used by many professional and international teams. Planning for the trip began way back in May 24 and was the brainchild of Sgt Ryan Hetherington of the RLC.

The Dhekelia 7s Women’s football tournament took place on the 2-3 Oct 24 at Dhekelia Station, Cyprus. Taking part in the tournament were 6 teams from the UK and 2 teams from BFC. The games were played over 2 days, initially a league format with the final day concluding of a semi-final between BFC W and RAF Brize Norton, and Defence Medical Academy and RAF Marham.

Last weekend saw the 2024 Super Cup in action in Scotland, with 6 Scots taking on 1 Mercian at Harthill Royals FC. 1 Mercian emerged victorious, beating 6 Scots 4-1! Congratulations to 1 Mercian from all at the Army FA. 1 Mercian took control early on in the first half, with a goal from LCpl Lewis Kennedy within 11 minutes. Mercian continued to dominate the Scots defence, with an additional two goals coming from Pte Zak Smith and LCpl Zak Northedge before HT.

Prisoner of War Football - Facts, Fiction, Bribery and Propaganda! The British Army Men’s team’s inaugural match in the Hampshire Senior Cup ended in success at Squirrel Lane on Tuesday evening. Wessex League Division One side Cove FC were the excellent hosts as two second half goals were the difference for the Army to secure a 2-0 victory and a home draw versus Southampton in the 2nd Round, date and kick off time to be confirmed.
