One person has died following a serious two vehicle crash on the M41, travelling from Umhlanga Rocks towards Phoenix. Preliminary reports indicate that a taxi collided with the rear of a heavy motor vehicle, leaving the taxi driver entrapped in the wreckage.
Stolen vehicle successfully located and recovered in Dawn Park
N17 Emergency Response members received a report regarding a stolen vehicle taken in Benoni at approximately 16:30. Our N17 Emergency Response Track Unit immediately activated and commenced tracking operations. Through coordinated efforts between our tracking unit, SAPS and other private security companies, the stolen vehicle was successfully located and recovered in Dawn Park.

E-Hailing Driver Flees After Collision: Brindhaven – KZN
An E-Hailing driver fled after a white Toyota collided with a driveway pillar on Rosemary Drive in Brindhaven – KZN yesterday afternoon (Friday 02/10/2026). The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Center received a call reporting the collision at approximately 19:56. Reaction Officers were dispatched and, on arrival, found the vehicle facing uphill with damage to its front end. The vehicle owner was at the scene.
Suspects arrested following the theft of diesel from a farm at Allanridge
Members attached to the Allanridge Rural Safety apprehended five (5) suspects aged between 27 and 49 for alleged theft and possession of suspected stolen property. On Thursday, 1 October 2026 at approximately 19:00, police received information about a possible theft at Modderfontein farm, in the Allanridge policing precinct. The Allanridge Rural Safety was mobilised and with the assistance of the farmers, the suspects were spotted.
Hijacked Toyota Recovered With Stock: Richmond Farm - KZN
A blue Toyota Corolla hijacked in Ottawa - KwaZulu-Natal was recovered with its stock in Richmond Farm - KwaZulu-Natal this afternoon (Friday, 02/10/2026). Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received information regarding the vehicle’s whereabouts at approximately 15:15. Reaction Officers were dispatched and recovered the car on a dead-end road. The owner stated that he was about to offload stock at his store when a white vehicle occupied by four (4) men arrived.
Motor vehicle accident in Montana
PVES members were alerted to a motor vehicle accident in Montana and initially responded to the scene. Due to heavy traffic, members were stood down after receiving information that Netcare 911 was already on scene. When members later passed the scene, the Netcare 911 ambulance was still attending. PVES members stopped to check whether any further assistance was required. The patients had already been assessed and treated for bleeding sustained in the accident.

The Grootman has arrived: Chery South Africa reveals name of first-ever bakkie
6 South Africans have chosen Grootman as the name of Chery’s new bakkie, which is planned for local launch in the first quarter of 2027. The hybrid bakkie combines a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with electric power and four-wheel drive, with preliminary outputs of 350 kW and 800 N.m. Grootman will offer up to 3,500 kg of braked towing capacity, Vehicle-to-Load functionality and an electric-only range of up to 100 km on the NEDC cycle.
New vehicle sales surge 12.7% as consumers adapt to higher borrowing costs
4 South Africa’s new vehicle market closed the third quarter on a strong note, with September sales rising 12.7% year-on-year to 61,645 units, despite affordability pressures and the recent 25 basis point increase in the repo rate to 7.25%. The result compares with 54,706 units sold in September 2025, according to naamsa. Passenger vehicle sales increased 14.7% to 44,291 units, while light commercial vehicles, bakkies and minibuses grew 9.6% to 14,361 units.
