Scientific Session Proposal Options - ASCB
These talks, located on the exhibit hall, provide an effective means for scientific or educational interaction with attendees. Each Tech Talk is 45-minutes long with your choice of seating for 50 or 150. Tech Talks include A/V support, internet connection for the presenter, and the option to purchase food and beverage. Abstracts will be included in the Mobile App, meeting webpage, and in the online meeting program. *Available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Grim NIH, NSF Budget News, Including Policy Landmines - ASCB
The U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives have each released their drafts of Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bills that include funding for the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the news is worrisome. Neither bill has been approved by the full Senate or House of Representatives. As with any negotiation, each bill can be viewed as an opening offer so the final outcome may be different.

Needhi Bhalla chosen for 2022 ASCB Prize for Excellence in Inclusivity - ASCB
Needhi Bhalla, Professor of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental (MCD) Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), will receive the 2022 American Society for Cell Biology Prize for Excellence in Inclusivity award. ASCB will recognize Bhalla on December 3 before the keynote of the Cell Bio 2022 meeting in Washington, DC. She also will write an essay to be published in Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBOC) and will receive $5,000 to use as she chooses.
