Assembly Breaking News BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The American Center for Manufacturing and Innovation (ACMI) has launched a competition offering $3 million in funding to startups developing manufacturing, hardware and materials technologies. The Horizon Manufacturing Cup will award funding to five companies, including a $1 million grand prize.

The Alabama Mobility and Power Center brings industry, academia and government together to advance battery manufacturing, energy storage and power systems. AMP’s Battery Research Lab supports pilot-scale battery manufacturing and testing, while its Power Research Lab focuses on grid resilience, electrification and energy systems testing. AMP is applying automation, AI, industrial IoT and private 5G infrastructure to battery manufacturing, smart energy management and autonomous charging systems.

According to the company, the investment will increase production flexibility, throughput and scalability while supporting more advanced medical manufacturing programs.

The FEV500 is designed to test DC Level 3 electric vehicle chargers. It acts as a “virtual EV,” combining safety, communication and interoperability checks in one tool. The easily transportable device makes testing more efficient by replacing the need for multiple tools, such as digital multimeters, insulation testers and oscilloscopes. It provides actionable data for regulatory compliance, maintenance planning and performance forecasting.
